Christian Aid and Relief – Congregational Benevolence Funds Guidelines

Together with WELS Financial Services, Christian Aid and Relief has prepared guidelines for WELS congregational benevolence funds. These resources are for congregations that seek to compassionately care for those in need.

What is a benevolence fund?
A benevolence fund is a designated pool of financial resources established by a charitable organization or congregation to provide assistance to individuals and families facing urgent, unforeseen financial hardships or crises.

Why are we providing these resources?
The goal of this guide is to empower WELS congregations to support their members and local communities effectively, demonstrating Christ-like compassion while practicing good stewardship and adhering to applicable laws and regulations.

If you plan to help those who are hurting in your congregation and community, then it is wise to establish a benevolence fund.

Christian Aid and Relief – Disaster Preparedness Resources

We live in a broken world. Disasters happen. Congregations should prepare for disasters before they happen. They need a plan and resources to help secure the safety of the congregation’s property (buildings, real estate, equipment, etc.) and, most importantly, people. The following resources are offered to help congregations plan and prepare for the day when disaster strikes. We have provided some simplified resources to assist congregations that are just getting started with disaster preparedness. Links to other governmental resources are provided for those who want to dig deeper.

REMEMBER: THE BEST TIME TO PREPARE FOR A DISASTER IS BEFORE IT HAPPENS.
